Bikini & Swimwear Season? The Best UK Made Beach Wear

The sun is shining, the sea is warming up and its time to break out your swimwear. But wait… If it’s time to pick up a new bikini or swimming shorts, don’t just head to your local chain store. There are tons of great brands that make their clothes right here in the UK. In fact some even make their swimwear right here in Devon and Cornwall…

So if you want to keep it local this summer, check out these great bikini and swimwear brands from the Westcountry.

Davy J

This small swimwear designer from Plymouth makes ethical and sustainable swimming costumes including bikinis and one piece costumes. The designs are quite plain and understated, and you won’t find a Brazilian cut here. But they are made from recycled fishing nets, and if you cossie is looking a bit tired, send it back for 20% off a new one.

Check them out at DavyJ.org.

Zennor

These funky Mermaid inspired swimming costumes from Cornish brand Zennor Bikinis are very contemporary and cool. They’re also UK made and proudly anti-sweatshop. If DavyJ has a more functional look, then Zennor definitely looks more like the beach bum/surfer girl type.

You’ll find colourful one piece swimming costumes and cool (and cheeky) bikinis in a variety of cuts.

Sand and Palm

Newquay based swimwear brand Sand & Palm feature a selection of vintage styled swimwear for women. Think mostly maximum coverage in muted colours. As proud supporters of local charity Surfers Against Sewage, Sand and Palm back up their sustainable credentials by making their garments from ocean plastic

They also feature jewelery other accesories in their shop, and you can even pop in and visit them at their Newquay Shop.

Tide and Seek

As the UK’s surf hotspot, you’d expect Newquay to be home to a number of swimwear brands. And you’d be right… Tide and Seek bring the surfer girl look with a range of colourful and contemporary bikinis, one-piece cossies and fitness wear made from sustainable and recycled materials.

Their current colour collection has vibes of 90s raver mixed with ‘island girl’ vibes – with a contemporary feel.
